January 22, 2021 – Update on Covid-19 Vaccination in Maryland

On January 14, 2021, Governor Larry Hogan announced that Maryland will be accelerating its rollout of Covid-19 vaccination as follows:

  • Phase 1B started Monday 1/18/21:  This includes people 75 and older, those residing in assisted living and similar facilities, teachers, daycare providers, and people involved in continuity of government.
  • Phase 1C is starting on Monday 1/25/21:   This phase includes people 65-74, other public health and safety workers as well as other frontline workers.

A website is available to locate a vaccination site and to get an appointment: covidvax.maryland.gov. You can view a map of all vaccination locations in Maryland or search by your zip code.  You must have an appointment to receive the vaccine.  Planning for mass vaccination sites is underway.

Montgomery County Department of Health has announced that you must live or work in the county in which you register to receive the vaccine. For vaccine information specific to Montgomery County, visit www.montgomerycountymd.gov/covid19/vaccine/

Please be aware that vaccine supplies remain extremely limited.  The state has only a small fraction of the doses needed.  That means that even if you become eligible for vaccination before the end of January, you may not be able to get an appointment immediately.  At this time 4.4% of Marylanders have received at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine (the average for all 50 states is 4.5%).  As manufacturing continues to ramp up, more vaccine will be available.  Please remain patient.

We encourage family members to help their older relatives with registering for vaccination appointments.

If you would like to get text updates from the State of Maryland related to COVID-19, you can send a text message to 898211 and send the message MdReady

Our office has applied to receive a supply of the vaccine.  We have been informed that we qualify, but it is too early in the distribution process for the Department of Health to share supplies with private practices.  We will notify you when we have a supply.
