What does an annual nutrition CPE session (which is included with my annual physical) include?
The Nutrition CPE session is optional and can be completed with your annual wellness exam or once every calendar year. This session is 15 minutes long and can be completed in person, over the phone, or via telehealth. During this session, you will discuss your current dietary intake and fitness routine with our registered dietician, who will suggest some changes to help you effectively meet your health goals.
If I want a full nutrition consultation, what should I expect?
An initial consultation with our dietitian is an hour long and can be completed in person or via telehealth. This session will include an in-depth assessment of your exercise, lifestyle (including sleep and stress), supplementation routine, and dietary intake. After the assessment, we will work together to design interventions that will help you accomplish your goals in a sustainable way with science-backed interventions that actually work.
Will insurance cover my nutrition consultations and follow-up sessions?
Individual insurance plans vary widely but most will cover sessions with a registered dietitian. Medicare will only cover individuals with the diagnosis of diabetes (type 1 or type 2) or chronic kidney disease (stage 1-5). Feel free to contact your individual insurance provider directly to get specific information. Our dietitian is in network with BCBS, United, Cigna, Aetna and Medicare.
How long are the various nutrition sessions?
The initial consultations are 60 minutes long, and most follow-up sessions will be 30 minutes long.
Can these sessions be done via Telehealth and telephone?
All sessions can be done via Telehealth, but the only session type that can be completed via phone is the annual nutrition CPE session.
What is the out-of-pocket cost for these sessions?
If you do not have coverage via insurance, the out-of-pocket cost for the initial evaluation is $250, and the follow-up sessions are $75 per 30-minute session.
