About our Registered Dietician
Bethesda Medical Associates’ dietician, Jessica Murgueytio, is nationally-registered, state-licensed, and is credentialed as a Certified Diabetes Educator. She has been with BMA since December 2012, and her model of care, with an emphasis on holistic wellness, aligns well with BMA’s philosophy on preventive medicine. She has experience working as an adjunct professor at George Mason University and Montgomery College, and has held contracts with Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies for program development. At BMA, Jessica provides Nutrition Consultations for new patients, follow-up visits for existing patients, and sees MDVIP Members of the practice as part of their Annual Wellness Visits. She also teaches weekly, focused, health education classes on a monthly basis; leads a year-long weight loss group that meets monthly; and authors quarterly Nutrition Newsletters as well as updated blog posts on BMA’s new website.
Jessica’s experience has included working throughout the community in pediatric diabetes prevention, sport nutrition, and family weight management. Her education at Florida State University earned her a Bachelor’s of Science in Dietetics in 2007 and a Master’s of Science in Clinical Nutrition in 2009. Since graduation, Jessica has pursued specialized training and advanced certification in clinical nutrition, diabetes and endocrine disorders, weight management, and behavioral modification. She completed certification to become a Diabetes Educator in 2013 and doesn’t plan to stop there! Her ambition drives her to continue pursuing new credentials and keeps her current on emerging data in her field. Outside of the office, Jessica’s personal hobbies include powerlifting, writing her nutritional blog, and spending time outdoors with her husband and dog.
